Gingrich, considering a run for the presidency in 2012, joined other Republicans in criticizing the president, accusing him of sitting back too much in his response to major crisis situations, The Hill reported Wednesday.
"Well, I think what is increasingly clear is that we have a spectator in chief instead of a commander in chief," Gingrich said on Fox News.
"It is maybe the most passive and out-of-touch presidency in modern American history," he said, accusing the president of "avoiding his job right now."
Passive and out-of-touch? Mr. Gingrich, you are the one that's out-of-touch with reality. This president has taken on more issues during his first 2 years in office than any other United States President has, accept maybe FDR, during a full eight years in office.
I'm going to list off a few of the issues this president has faced in just 2 years:
A world economy on the brink of collapse.A U.S. Economay on the brink of another Great Depression.
Highest unemployment since the Great Depression.
Wall Street corruption.
Failing housing market.
Bailing out large corporations to keep unemployment as low as possible.
A war in Iraq that should never have been.
A war in Afghanistan that was never a victory as we were told.
A war on terror.
Palestine and Israel conflict.
North Korea continues to threaten South Korea.
Iran continues to threaten the use of nukes.
Iran uprising
Numerous spoiled terrorist attacks across the nation/world.
The BP oil spill - largest in history.
The death of Edward Kennedy.
Out of control health care costs.
All of the above was just in the first few months in office and continues.
The State Department listed 14,971 fatalities from terrorist attacks and the world witnessed 10,999 terrorist attacks in 2009 alone and the trend continued through out 2010.
Read a four-page report, "Evolving Threats to the Homeland," prepared by the Office of Infrastructure Protection, says that "the number and pace of attempted attacks in the U.S. over the past nine months have surpassed the number of attempts during any other previous one-year period."
The shooting in Arizona of a U.S. Representative. More attacks similar to this one.
The attempted terrorist attack on Christmas Day in Detroit.
Governors trying to abolish Union bargaining in their states.
Egypt government falls.
Libya government about to fall.
Getting a coalition of nations to agree to attack Libya.
Oil prices increase over Middle East conflicts.
Other nations that have dictatorships having same difficulties.
Unusual snow and rain storms, flooding and earth quakes across the world.
The death of Richard Holbrooke.
Don't Ask, Don't Tell appeal.
Appoint two Supreme Court Justices.
Millions about to lose their unemployment checks.
Fight and win a Start Treaty.
Try and finish repairing Louisiana after hurricane Katrina
The killings in Mexico (Ciudad Juarez) that were killed.
These are just a few issues this president has faced since January 20, 2009. I'm sure I've missed a few.
Let me also remind you that beyond just what any president may have had to face during 2009-2010, he's also taken on issues that no other president has attempted and successfully done (whether liked or not), such as the health care bill, massive infrastructure repairs, stem cell and the DADT bill.
All the above doesn't include the normal business of running the office of the President.
So Mr Gingrich -- you called him passive, do the above actions REALLY sound like a president that lacks in energy or will or tends to not take an active part in today's issues? Let's take a vote on that.
